Earlier today, at around noon (1200 hrs), the police were informed of an incident in St. Joseph High Road, Santa Venera.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a 43-year-old woman from Birkirkara and a 12-year-old boy sustained injuries caused by flares while they were inside a vehicle on the aforementioned street.
The victims were given assistance by a medical team and were taken to Mater Dei Hospital.
The woman was certified as suffering from serious injuries, while the boy was certified as having suffered grievous injuries and was subsequently discharged from hospital.
Police investigations are ongoing.
