Two arrested in connection with alleged drug trafficking

Two men are being held under arrest after being caught in possession of different types of drugs last night, allegedly for sale.

During the Paceville patrols, the police noted a man acting suspiciously. As soon as they stopped him and a search was about to be carried out on his bag, he tried to escape, but was immediately arrested. During the arrest he was aggressive towards the police, and as a result two police officers suffered slight injuries.

The arrested man was identified as a 32-year-old man from Jamaica and 8 sachets with suspected cocaine and 20 sachets with suspected cannabis were found in a search carried out on him.

During further patrols, the police noted another person also acting suspiciously and as soon as they approached him, a search was carried out and he was found in possession of 6 sachets with suspcted cannabis and a considerable amount of cash. The man, who is Eritrean and is 50-years-old, was immediately arrested.

The two men are expected to be arraigned in Court in the coming days.
