Traffic Accident in Naxxar

This morning, at around 0715 hrs, the police were called to assist at a traffic accident on Triq Tul il-Kosta, Naxxar.

Police officers immediately responded to the scene, and preliminary investigations revealed that a Subaru Impreza, driven by a 41-year-old man from Ħal Għaxaq, crashed into a wall, leaving the vehicle stationary in the middle of the carriageway.

As a result, several vehicles came to a stop because they were unable to pass. A 36-year-old man riding a Suzuki motorcycle attempted to avoid the stationary traffic but lost control and crashed into the crash barriers, sustaining injuries.

At the same time and in the same location, a chain collision involving five vehicles—an Isuzu van, a Mazda 2, a Toyota Passo, a Toyota Vitz, and a Porsche—also occurred. The driver of the Toyota Vitz, a 29-year-old man from St Paul’s Bay, also sustained injuries.

A medical team immediately assisted at the scene, and both the motorcyclist and the Toyota Vitz driver were taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where they were later certified as having suffered grievous injuries.

The 41-year-old Subaru driver was uninjured.

Police investigations into these incidents are ongoing.
