Earlier this morning, at around five (0500 hrs), the Police were informed of an accident in Triq L-Imdina, Attard.
The Police immediately went to the scene where they found a Toyota Vitz overturned on the roof with the driver, a 27-year-old man resident in Qormi and female passenger, an 18-year-old girl resident in Swieqi, outside the vehicle.
They were assisted by a medical team and taken to Mater Dei Hospital in an ambulance, the driver was later certified to have sustained grievous injuries while the girl sustained slight injuries.
It resulted from investigations that the vehicle hit an electricity pole, overturned and caught
fire. However, the two persons managed to get out of the vehicle before it caught fire.
Members from the Civil Protection Department went on site to assist.
Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
