Three persons arrested in connection with illegal cultivation of cannabis
Three foreign men have been arrested following investigations in connection with alleged illegal cultivation of cannabis plants, in an amount which is more than permitted by law.
 
They were arrested yesterday morning when following a search of an apartment in Valley Road, limits of Marsalforn, Żebbuġ, Gozo, eleven cannabis plants were found illegally grown.
 
They were found both inside and on the roof of the same block of apartments. Apart from the plants, the Police seized various cannabis sachets which were ready in circumstances indicating they were intended for trafficking.
 
The three persons arrested are a 43-year-old German national, a 37-year-old Ghanaian national and a 36-year-old Sudanese national.
 
Earlier this morning, he was arraigned in the Gozo Court before Magistrate Dr Jean Paul Grech LL. D in German, pleading not guilty to the charges. He was released on bail on various conditions.
 
Meanwhile, investigations into the two other persons are ongoing.
