Swimmer lost his life in Mellieħa

(PR 322/25) 

Yesterday, at around 1830hrs, the Police were informed that their assistance was needed at Għadira Bay, Mellieħa.

The Police went immediately on site and from initial investigations it resulted that a 55-year-old man, a resident of Mellieħa, found himself in difficulty while swimming. Some people who were nearby gave first aid and brought the man ashore.

The victim was also assisted by a medical team and taken to Mater Dei Hospital by an ambulance. Unfortunately, he was certified dead shortly afterwards.

Magistrate Dr Joseph Mifsud LL.D was informed about the case and appointed a Magisterial Inquiry.
