Seven persons arrested in connection with alleged drug trafficking

The fight by the Police force against drug trafficking continues, with seven persons being arrested in two separate investigations in recent hours.

During the first investigation, following surveillance in view of drug trafficking from a property in Triq il-Ġerrejja in Marsa and from an establishment in the same locality, led to the arrest of six persons – five men aged between 16 and 39 years and a 32-year-old woman.

During this investigation and after several searches, the Police found around 165 sachets of suspected synthetic drugs ready for trafficking as well as €5,600 in cash. Two vehicles allegedly being used for drug trafficking were also confiscated.

Meanwhile, another separate investigation into drug trafficking from a St Julian’s residence led to the arrest of a 39-year-old man.

Following information received by the Police regarding suspicion of drug trafficking in the area of Ta’ Ġiorni and its surroundings, the Police began surveillance where this information was confirmed.

Following the issue of an arrest warrant, the Police entered the residence in Triq Sir Joseph Carbone, where the man was arrested on site. A search at the property yielded 100 grams of suspected synthetic cannabis in various sachets, allegedly ready for trafficking, as well as a small amount of substance suspected to be heroin. A number of mobiles were also seized.

While investigations are ongoing, today at around noon (1200 hrs), four of the arrested persons are expected to be arraigned in Court before Magistrate Dr Lara Lanfranco LL. D.
