A 53-year-old Portuguese national has been arrested on arrival at Malta International Airport after being caught carrying around 11 kg of drugs in his suitcase, with a total value of around €250,000.

The Police together with Customs officers carried out inspections on passengers who arrived on a flight from Seville in Spain at around 1am on Saturday.

Yesterday he was arraigned in court before Magistrate Dr Lara Lanfranco LL.D.  pleaded not guilty and was detained under preventive arrest.
