Malta and Gozo are divided into two regions, Region A and Region B, which are further segmented into 12 police districts. This structured division allows for targeted and efficient policing, tailored to the specific needs of each locality.

Community Policing brings the police closer to the people they serve.
Through this service, residents can know their local officers, speak to them directly, and raise concerns about matters affecting their locality. Community Policing is based on visibility, trust, prevention, and regular contact between police officers and the community.

Community Policing is a policing model where officers are assigned to specific localities so they can understand the needs, concerns, and daily realities of the people living and working there.
The aim is to build stronger relationships between the police and the public, prevent crime, address local issues early, and improve the sense of safety within each community.
Community Police Officers patrol their assigned areas, meet residents, engage with local councils, schools, businesses, voluntary organisations, and other community partners, and follow up on issues raised by the public.
They work to identify recurring problems, provide safety advice, support crime prevention initiatives, and respond to concerns before they develop into more serious situations.
Residents may contact their Community Policing Team directly, follow their locality’s official Facebook group, or speak to officers during patrols and community meetings.
Community Policing helps the Malta Police Force provide a more visible, accessible, and responsive service.
When officers know their locality and residents know their officers, concerns can be reported more easily, information can be shared more quickly, and solutions can be developed together.
This approach supports safer localities, stronger public trust, and better cooperation between the police and the community.
The Community Policing Team has achieved the Quality Label.
The Quality Label is a distinction awarded to departments and entities within the Public Administration, whose service delivery to customers reaches those standards of service defined through the 4 Pillars (voice and understanding the customer, design and implementation of policies and services that meet customer expectation, delivery of a quality service and accountability, where people become part of the excellence of the service provided), the 5 Quality Service Determinants as defined by the SERVQUAL quality model (Reliability, Responsiveness, Empathy, Assurance and Tangibles), Directive 4-2 and any other directives or policies which establish quality standards within the Public Administration.
