Man dies in Gozo

Today, at around 1500hrs, the Police were informed that their assistance was needed in the area of Ras ir-Reqqa limits of Żebbuġ, Gozo.

The Police went immediately on site and from initial investigations it resulted that a 34-year-old man residing in Għajnsielem, Gozo, found himself in difficulty while swimming. Some bystanders gave first aid and lifted the man out of the sea.

The victim was immediately assisted by a medical team and taken to Gozo General Hospital

by ambulance. Unfortunately, he was certified dead shortly afterwards.

Magistrate Dr Brigitte Sultana LL.D was informed of the case and opened a Magisterial Inquiry.

Police investigations into this incident are ongoing.
