A 51-year-old Englishman was arrested at the Malta International Airport, in connection with the importation of more than 19 kilos of suspected khat, with a market value of approximately €8,000.
The man was stopped by Customs officers upon his arrival on a flight from Amsterdam and during a search of his luggage, the Police found 100 packages of the suspected drug.
Magistrate Dr Monica Vella LL.D was informed of the case, who appointed an inquiry and immediately began Police investigations.
He is expected to be arraigned in Court later today.
