Man arrested in connection with 76KGs cocaine drug bust

Several days of investigations and observations by the Police in connection with suspicious activities between Malta and Gozo, led to the arrest of a 45-year-old Croatian national, as well as the discovery of 76 kg of suspected cocaine, with a market value of around €9 million.

On Tuesday, the police stopped a vehicle at Mgarr Harbour, Gozo. A search of the vehicle yielded 18 kilogrammes of suspected cocaine.

The searches continued at the residence where the arrested man lives in Xaghra, where another 58 kg of substance suspected to be cocaine were found, as well as several registration plates of different vehicles.

Magistrate Dr Simone Grech LL.D was informed of the discovery who appointed a Magisterial inquiry.

The man is expected to be arraigned in the Gozo Court.
