Inspections Related to Irregular Immigration

During the past night, 22 immigrants were arrested by the police after being found residing in Malta irregularly.

They were detained during inspections carried out in the areas of Blata l-Bajda, Ħamrun, and Marsa. Searches were also conducted at a number of private residences in Marsa, Ħamrun, Fgura, and Rabat.

During these inspections, the police were assisted by officers from the Detention Services Agency. The individuals are being held at a detention centre while the relevant authorities complete the necessary procedures for their return to their country of origin or to another country where they are legally authorised to reside.

Malta remains committed to fulfill all its obligations in this area, while ensuring full respect for the country’s laws.
