Today, at around noon (1200 hrs), the police were informed that assistance was required at a childcare centre on Garcin Street, in Msida, after an infant was found unconscious.
Police officers, together with a medical team from Mater Dei Hospital, immediately responded to the scene, where they found the four-month-old baby boy receiving medical assistance from staff members of the childcare centre.
After the medical team continued providing treatment, the infant was transported by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was certified as being in a serious condition.
Magistrate Dr Philip Galea Farrugia LL.D. was informed of the case and appointed an inquiry, while police investigations are ongoing.
