Four foreign men have been arrested in three separate cases in connection with alleged drug trafficking in St Julian’s and alleged illegal cultivation of cannabis plants in Naxxar.
The first arrests were made on Sunday evening, after the Police were informed that drug trafficking was allegedly taking place at Triq San Ġorġ, St Julian’s.
As soon as they went immediately on site, the Police identified the two individuals, aged 24 and 30, both from Somalia and from searches carried out on them, around 30 sachets containing substances suspected to be cocaine, heroin and cannabis were found in their possession.
Meanwhile, on Monday morning, a 27-year-old man from Holland and a 31-year-old man from Sweden were arrested following a raid that was carried out at a residence in Triq it-Torri tal-Kaptan, Naxxar.
50 cannabis plants were elevated from both places, as well as an amount of cannabis resin and objects related to drug cultivation.
The four persons are being detained at the Police lock-up in Floriana, where they are expected to be arraigned in Court today, at around 1100 hrs in front of duty Magistrate Dr Caroline Farrugia Frendo LL.D.
