Continued work in relation to Irregular Immigration

(PR 590/25)

Following weeks of coordinated efforts by the Immigration Police, three individuals who had been arrested in recent months for breaking the law were deported from Malta in three separate return operations. These individuals had been held in a detention centre after serving effective prison sentences for living a vagrant lifestyle and aggressively begging in various areas around the country.

All three were returned to their countries of origin — located in North Africa, West Africa, and Eastern Europe.

This operation followed another enforcement initiative in Burmarrad, during which nineteen people were arrested from various buses after being found to be in the country irregularly.

The Police stated that they will continue working to identify, arrest, and deport persons who are residing illegally in Malta.

This ongoing effort is being carried out through close collaboration between the Police and other entities, including the Detention Services Agency, Identità, and Jobsplus.
