Yesterday morning, various Police sections carried out coordinated inspections in the areas of Qormi and Marsa. They were assisted by the detention services Agency in connection with irregular immigration.

20 people from Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Syria, Gambia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Togo were found to live in the country irregularly.

This inspection followed another operation in St Julian’s and Paceville where 25 other persons were arrested in recent days after they were found illegally living or working in the country. They came from Syria, Nigeria, Ghana, Turkey and India.

All the persons were taken to a detention centre until the completion of their return process.
