19 persons arrested for being in Malta irregularly

(PR 203/25) 

19 people who were found living and working in Malta irregularly were arrested during a traffic inspection yesterday morning.

These inspections were carried out in Marsaskala, where a number of vehicles were stopped and driving licences and other documents checked. The detained persons are from Albania, Syria and Nigeria.

Officials from the Police Force, the Detention Services Agency, Transport Malta, Identitá and Jobs Plus took part in the inspection.

All persons are being kept in a detention centre for further investigations and until the return to the country of origin or to other European Member States in which they have permission to live.
