For a person to obtain any of the above listed hunting licences a person has to be a member of a recognized hunting club. Afterwards, the person is issued with a recommendation letter with which a person can call at his local Police Office and submits an application for the desired hunting licence.
Following Police internal checks to confirm that an applicant is qualified to hold a hunting licence, the applicant is referred to a mepa test to establish the applicant’s knowledge of the types of birds and the hunting regulations. If the applicant passes the test, then he is contacted by the local Police Office and a hunting licence is issued.

For a person to obtain any of the above listed collector/target licences a person has to be a member of a recognized collector/target shooter licenced club. After the person is trained by the club, the person is issued with a recommendation letter with which a person can call at his local Police Office and submit an application for the desired collector\target shooter licence. Following Police internal checks to confirm that an applicant is qualified to hold a collector/target shooter licence, applicant is referred to a Weapons Board test to establish the applicant’s knowledge of forearms and their history and the Arms Act (Chapter 480). If the applicant passes the test, the applicant is contacted by the local Police Office and a collector/target shooter licence is issued.

Holders of Firearms Collector
licence B in terms of Chapter 480 and S.L. 480.02,
who are also in possession of the e-id, may renew their Collector B licence
online.
