One‑Time Event Permits, mandated under Article 10 of the Trading Licences Act (Chapter 441, Laws of Malta), constitute the obligatory authorisation for organising discos, balls, dances, parties, or comparable single‑occurrence gatherings where music and dancing are central activities.

Purpose

  • Public Safety & Order: This permit guarantees that large social events are staged in secure, properly vetted venues, thereby protecting attendees, neighbouring communities, and public order at large.

Application & Eligibility

  • Application Submission: Our user-friendly online portal simplifies the permit application process, enabling direct submissions via our website for your convenience. To allow adequate vetting and inter‑agency consultation, applications should be lodged well in advance of the planned event date; late submissions risk procedural refusal.

  • Eligible Applicants: Private individuals, companies, or organisations planning an event in a venue not already licensed for such entertainment by the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) or the Commerce Department.

Requirements & Conditions

  • Requirements: Events are subject to the documentation, certification, and financial safeguards outlined in the Malta Police Force Standard Operating Procedure – Permits, Licences & Applications (SOP‑PLA). Organisers will be required to submit proof of identity or corporate authority, detailed venue plans, safety and capacity certificates, risk‑assessment reports, insurance cover, and, where applicable, depending on an event’s scope and risk profile, a bank guarantee or other security. The Police Department also reserve the right to request additional evidence or modified requirements to ensure full compliance and public safety.
