POST OF SUPERINTENDENT IN THE MALTA POLICE FORCE
IN THE MINISTRY FOR HOME AFFAIRS AND NATIONAL SECURITY

1. The Commissioner of Police invites applications for the post of Superintendent of Police in the Malta Police Force 
Terms and Conditions

2.1     This appointment is subject to a probationary period of one year.

2.2     The salary for the post of Superintendent of Police is Salary Scale 5, which in the year 2019 is, €27,538 per annum, rising by annual increments of €640.67 up to a maximum of €31,382.

Duties

3. The duties of a Superintendent of Police include:

  • supervision of Police Inspectors and other officers under his charge;
  • directing and monitoring investigations and prosecutions;
  • managing of the district or branch under his charge;
  • organizing staff conferences and implementing policy;
  • any other duties as assigned by the Commissioner of Police; and
  • any other duties according to the exigencies of the Public Service as directed by the Permanent Secretary.

Eligibility Requirement

4.       By the closing time and date of this call for applications, applicants must be Public Officers in the rank of Senior Inspectors of Police and wearing three pips.

5.1    Qualifications and experience claimed must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials, copies of which are to be scanned and sent through the Recruitment Portal on https://recruitment.gov.mt. Under no circumstances should any such documents be submitted after two (2) working days from the closing date. 

5.2     Original certificates and/or testimonials are to be invariably produced for verification at the interview.


Selection Procedure

6.      Eligible applicants will be assessed by a Selection Board to determine their suitability for the post. The maximum mark for this selection process is 100 and the pass mark is 60 (if applicants are less than 20) or 200 with a pass mark of 120 (if applicants are more than 20).

7.1    Applications are to be submitted, for the attention of the Commissioner of Police through the Recruitment Portal at the following address: https://recruitment.gov.mt  (under Uniformed and Security), till noon on Friday 13 September 2019.

7.2   Applicants will then be invited to submit an application (on a subject form), which will be             received by the Deputy Commissioner in charge Human Resources and Administration at Human Resources Branch, Police General Headquarters.
