Theft of or from Vehicles

Reducing the opportunity for criminals to make us their victims is the key to crime prevention. The following are some do’s and don’ts in order to try and reduce the chance of becoming victims of crime.  

     Do not leave keys in the ignition when leaving the car, even if for a very short time;

     Do not leave items such as bags, personal documents, clothes etc visible in the vehicle;

     Do make sure to lock all doors and windows when you leave your vehicle;

     Do not leave any hi-fi equipment visible. Some equipment nowadays can be removed;     

     Do not leave removable parts under seats or in glove compartments;

     Do install a security hook or a car alarm. These act as a deterrent to criminals;

     If your vehicle has been stolen inform immediately the Police on 119 or call at the nearest Police Station. In case of theft from vehicle do not erase any evidence that can assist the Police in the investigation.
